D-Rex may look super vicious. This toy pet looks as such because of his scaly rubbery skin, spiked collar, big yellow eyes, oversized feet and razor-sharp like teeth. But he has a lot to offer in terms of fun and being a loyal pet. Your kid would be even surprised when you touch him. His covering actually feels soft to the touch. And D-Rex Interactive Pet Dino keeps another surprise. He has this hidden sense of humor and a soft side. Discover it when you scratch the back of his head. The touch sensors in this part of his body allow him to respond with a mild, almost laugh-like roar.

He has wonderful features which could definitely optimize your kid’s pet ownership skills. He comes with a controller shaped like a bone. Through this controller, your kid could have so much fun training and playing with this pet dinosaur. There are five specific prompts your kid could use in ‘instructing’ this toy. These modes are attack, prank, seek, guard and question.

The first one lets your child launch him forward as if to charge in a battle while roaring. The second one shows off this dinosaur’s funny side. When this function button is pressed, DRex would fart, burp or roar. The seek mode lets him use up his noise sensor to detect where the sound is coming from. He would follow it carefully. A test group found out that when the toy is exposed to too much background noise, he would have difficulty in doing the task. But he would still look funny and even cute when he bumps into a wall and backs away in surprise. The guard mode would let him secure the area your kid pre-set it to protect. He would let out a big roar once he senses ‘intruders.’ And the last function replaces your old-fashioned magic 8 ball with dinosaur wit. He would answer “Yes” or “No” by nodding or shaking his head.

What makes this toy independent is that he would sometimes not walk where ever he is commanded to go. Some kids may be disappointed but that would make him more realistic, thus enhancing your kid’s training skills.

He needs 5 C batteries on his tail and 2 AAA batteries for the controller. Do not worry that he would use up all your money on batteries as he comes with a sleep mode. And once D-Rex Interactive Pet Dino is all ‘charged’ up, he would start showing off and responding to his environment. He would roar, move his head in most directions and even blink his eyes much to the amazement of everyone.
